Montana Aerospace recently completed a significant project in collaboration with Airbus Aerostructures, achieving the challenging and complex task of industrializing and manufacturing the floor grid section for the A350F within an unprecedented timeframe.
As supplier of the aircraft’s floor grid, a delegation from Montana Aerospace was invited by Airbus to a ceremony in Nordenham on April 9, 2024 to celebrate this historic moment of being part of the A350F supply chain.
Showcasing our proficiency
At Montana Aerospace, we pride ourselves on offering our customers a comprehensive one-stop-shop concept, from raw material processing to final product assembly. This project exemplifies our capabilities, as the entire product was developed in-house at Montana Aerospace’s division Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC). It demonstrates our proficiency in UAC’s transfer of work and complex aluminium extrusion and machining capabilities. “UAC has developed into a real global player. Being a supplier for the Airbus A350F clearly demonstrates this and also reflects the many years of good cooperation with Airbus“, says Kai Arndt, Co-CEO of Montana Aerospace.
The project involved the utilization of heavy press extrusion made from aluminium-lithium material on one of the largest heavy presses in North America. The application of aluminium-lithium alloy offers significant weight advantages, contributing to the enhanced fuel efficiency of the aircraft.
A big investment program with >650 million Euros of dedicated investments
In addition to the expanding and developing the extrusion business in Europe, Montana Aerospace has also invested heavily in the development of its one-stop-shop concept over the past 48 months, expanding its service and product portfolio in the area of complex, critical components for every commercial aircraft in the sky. Therefore, Montana Aerospace invested more than EUR 650 million anticyclical, to position itself as a trusted partner of choice for its customers.
